Shay Sellars, Managing Director

Shay is the Founder and Managing Director of SASRE Properties. She has over 12 years of experience in commercial real estate acquisitions, underwriting, redevelopment, project management and the permitting process of multifamily, mixed use, infill, and new development assets in New York City, as well as 5 years of professional fundraising experience,

Prior to forming SASRE Properties, Sellars held various real estate acquisition roles at Weissman Equities and Knightsbridge Properties, where she sourced and analyzed multifamily, mixed-use, and new development sites within the New York City area. She also worked with New York City’s Economic Development Corporation (“NYEDC”) as a Summer Associate within the Real Estate Transactions Services Group, where she collaborated on projects such as Willet’s Point Redevelopment, 125th Street Development and the East River Ferry Project. Sellars began her investment sales career at TerraCRG, where she established a niche in central Brooklyn serving investors and developers interested in distressed multi-family properties and devised creative ways to reach the highest and best use for each asset.

Sellars received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She also attended Howard University's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, with focused courses in Finance and Corporate Strategy, and New York University’s Schack Institute for Real Estate's Master of Real Estate Development program, with a concentration in the Business of Development.

Sellars is a proud Southerner, born and raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry. She lived in Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant for ten years before relocating to the Hudson Valley Region. She is an alumni fellow of Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT), as well as a current member of the Urban Design Forum and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
